Archos 101 Platinum: Features and Functionality

Presented in October of this year, along with other models of the same series, the Archos 101 Platinum is a mid-range tablet characterized by an excellent ratio between quality and price. It is an interesting device as it shows all the strides made by the French manufacturer in recent years, especially from the point of view of quality, keeping as a reference point in the economic accessibility. With regard to the technical specifications, this tablet is based on a quad-core processor 1.6 GHz, a memory of 2 GB RAM and the Android operating system in version 4.2. It also has an internal memory of 8 GB and expandable via microSD memory cards up to 64 GB.

The design of the Archos 101 Platinum is not bad, it is pleasant and elegant, mainly because of its white livery that certainly gives it a charming look. Speaking of the display, it is a touch screen with IPS panel, shame about the not exactly high resolution and the absence of ambient light sensor, which compels them to act manually.

Analyzing the area of connectivity, this tablet is quite comprehensive as it provided a microUSB port, interface miniHDMI of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which lets you connect to the Internet using a hot spot in the area, but unfortunately the absence of the SIM card slot reduces considerably the potential makes it a tablet certainly not suitable for work. Not lacking the GPS module.

One negative point of the Archos 101 Platinum is definitely the photo department. The tablet is equipped with a rear camera just 2 megapixels, which can therefore, not guarantee pictures of good quality. There is also a front camera for video calling and self-portraits. The tablet then presents several interesting applications, such as a document viewers, which allows you to receive and manage documents in various formats, but I do not change them, and apps Archos Archos Video and Music, for the management of audio and video files.

Conclusion

The Archos 101 Platinum is an excellent compromise for those who want a tablet for home entertainment or for those who approach for the first time in these devices and do not want to spend too much. The powerful processor and plenty of RAM make it suitable for media playback, but the lack of 3G is a deficit in terms of connectivity on the road. Basically, a tablet cheap but of some interest.
